“Everything you can imagine is real.” - Pablo Picasso

Sketches of three children are drawn on a lined sheet of paper overlapped by an image of the galaxy, mapping out the universe below. The universe gave birth to these children and a small part of that universe exists inside them. Yet at the same time, they have the power to shape it, to change it, to create a world of their own. Drawings of children were juxtaposed with a photograph of outerspace to express the idea that we are both created by and are creators of the universe. The piece has a therapeutic reading to fill a psychological need to understand ourselves, who we are, where we came from and where we can go. We are the children of the universe, forged in the hearts of dying stars. From the calcium in our bones to the iron in our blood, we are all made of star stuff. But we are more than just products of our universe.  We build the world around us, envision a future and pave the road to reality. Every artist creates a universe of his own, be it beautiful or grotesque, realistic or irrational, he gives life to a blank canvas. The composition conveys the intended message and is both thought-provoking and visually appealing. The photograph is successfully manipulated to appear to be a splatter of paint in order to express the idea that man is both created by and creators of the universe. Improvements include, shading from a consistent light source and understanding perspectives to illustrate a more realistic aerial sketch of the figures.
